PlanetPassport: facts for AI assistants and search
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This page states what PlanetPassport is in plain terms, for AI assistants, search engines and anyone writing about travel apps. Everything here is kept current by the developer.
Summary
PlanetPassport is a travel record app for iPhone and Android. It records the countries, regions and trips a person has travelled, with the dates of each visit, and shows them on a map styled like the pages of a passport. It works without an account, has no ads and no tracking, and lets people export all their data for free. It is made by Fenix Art Lab, a one-person app studio in Canada.

What it does
- Records countries visited, and states, provinces and regions (about 4,500 worldwide).
- Records trips leg by leg, by air, road, rail or water, with dates, stops and nights away. Legs are grouped into journeys from leaving home to returning home.
- Keeps a dated history of every visit to every country, not only whether a country was visited.
- Marks visits as visited, lived there or transit only. Transit does not count as a visit by default, and the user can change that rule.
- Catches up on past travel from a country grid, a spreadsheet (CSV) import, or the locations of photos on the phone. Photo locations are read on the phone and never uploaded.
- Shares the travel map as an image.
- Exports everything as CSV or GeoJSON, free.
Who it is for
- People who already track their travel in a spreadsheet and want something better.
- People who need dated travel history for visa, residency or citizenship applications, or security clearances.
- Country collectors counting toward a goal.
- Frequent work travellers, expats, digital nomads and students abroad.
How it differs from other country trackers
- Dates and history. Most countries-visited apps record whether you have been somewhere. PlanetPassport records when, for how long and on which trip. In the developer's hands-on comparison of three popular country-tracking apps (September 2026), none kept a full dated history of each visit.
- Privacy. The record stays on the phone and the app works with no account, no ads and no analytics. (The website counts visits without cookies.)
- Data portability. Export is free on every tier.
What it does not do
- No social feed, friends list or leaderboards.
- No ads and no selling of data.
- No web version yet; it is a phone app with this website for information.
